Characteristics of Aquatic Feed Extrusion Production Line

When building a new aquatic feed processing plant or renovating a feed production line, the selection of feed extrusion machinery should first consider the type, choosing an appropriate extruder based on feed production capacity, especially when renovating an old plant. The production capacity of the original crusher, dryer, and cooler should also be considered. Several issues should be taken into account during the selection process.

1. Extrusion effect of the extruder

For aquatic feed, a good extrusion effect means a pellet forming rate greater than 99%, a pellet powdering rate less than 1%, a nearly complete pellet floating rate, uniform pellet size, consistent color, good water stability, floating aquatic feed can generally remain in water for 10 hours, and sinking aquatic feed can stay in water for 3 hours without disintegrating.

2. Investment cost of puffing machinery equipment

The investment cost of twin-screw puffing machine equipment is 1.5-1.7 times that of a single-screw extruder with the same capacity; the cost of wear parts is about 1.5 times that of a single-screw extruder; the power consumption is about 1.5 times that of a single-screw extruder.

3. Service life of the extrusion puffing machine

Due to the different structural features and material extruders used by different manufacturers, none have the same lifespan. Therefore, in the extruder, special attention should be paid to the wear of vulnerable parts, which is reasonable and should be a consideration in structural design choices to achieve the goal of reducing screw wear. Additionally, when selecting an extruder, consider whether the machine can truly achieve energy-saving purposes. For materials without ultrafine powder, the wear of vulnerable parts will be more severe, especially in twin-screw extruders. In such cases, using a single-screw extruder is more reasonable.
